Dr. Johnston
As a young person, Dr. Johnston spent lots of time in many different dental offices receiving treatment for an impacted front tooth, which required multiple dental specialties. After a few dental surgeries and years in braces, Dr. Johnston's career interest gradually molded into place. At age 12, Dr. Johnston felt dentistry chose him and has been passionate about it ever since. Throughout high school and college undergrad he still continued to be in and out of dental offices every chance he could get, this time, learning everything he could about dentistry. Graduating with a degree in Zoology at Texas Tech University, Dr. Johnston learned many subjects including but not limited to: biochemistry, microbiology, chemistry, pathology, physiology, molecular biology. This taught Dr. Johnston how many different cells create different systems work together to create a functional being. In 2004, Dr. Johnston achieved his dream of becoming a dentist, graduating from one of the top schools in dentistry, The University of Texas School of Dentistry at San Antonio.
While in dental school, Dr. Johnston served 4 years with dental missions in Mexico. This extracurricular activity allowed for an early start and additional hands on training while in school. Before graduating, in 2003, Dr. Johnston did an internship at the Brownsville Community Health Clinic on the Mexico - Texas border. Here, Dr. Johnston received more additional hands on dental education tending to low income individuals with extensive dental needs.
From 2004-2006, Dr. Johnston practiced in several dental offices in San Antonio, Texas. Each dental office experience taught Dr. Johnston different strategies of practicing dentistry and office environments. He also continued with medical missions, this time training students while in Mexico. In 2006, Dr. Johnston decided to move to Colorado, where he practiced for a busy practice for 2 years.
In 2008, Dr. Johnston decided to create Ascent Dental Group, a vision of all Dr. Johnston's learning along the way. He is dedicated to creating an environment where doctor and patient have a strong lasting relationship that allows successful communication for better patient treatment. (A product of being raised in a small town). He is passionate about the constant improvement of Ascent Dental, his continued dental education, his patient relationships and his self improvement.
Dr. Johnston is a member several professional organizations, simply if he deems them commendable. He is currently pursuing the Fellowship Award to the Academy of General Dentistry, which is earned through continuing dental education on the many different fields of dentistry. Other organizations include: American Dental Association, Metro Denver Society, Glendale Chamber of Commerce, Texas Tech Alumni, Biking Club of Colorado and the Cherry Creek East Neighborhood Association. Dr. Johnston also participates in local dental study clubs in the Denver Area.
In his spare time, Dr. Johnston loves to spend time with his wife traveling, snow skiing, road biking, running. His other hobbies include: mountain biking, scuba diving, racquetball, golf, tennis, boating, waterskiing, camping, reading, researching on the internet, dining, going to the gym and viewing most sports. He enjoys being outdoors along with the simple things in life.
Elizabeth - Dental Hygienist
Elizabeth moved to Colorado from the town of Lawton, Oklahoma. She completed her undergraduate study at Utah State with a major in Biology. She then moved to Texas where she completed her degree in dental hygiene. Her goal is to build a caring and trusting relationship with each patient by providing the care that they need. She loves to spend her time snowboarding in the winter and playing tennis in the summer.

Judy - Expanded Duty Dental Assistant
On a spontaneous decision, Judy decided to enroll in a dental assistant program at Ascension College in Gonzales, Louisiana. There, she received extensive practice and training toward her career as a dental assistant. Wanting more, she decided to further her training and become an Expanded Duties Dental Assistant in 1996 from Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Judy has been a dental assistant for 13 years. She has worked for several dentists in her career and has seen many practices of dentistry and different clinical situations. On a vacation to Colorado, Judy felt it was a place she wanted to be. A Louisiana native, Judy moved to Denver in February of 2000. When away from the office, she enjoys spending time with her family and shopping.

Taylor - Patient Relations
As a sophomore in high school, Taylor got a part time job as a file clerk in the periodontal office her mom worked at, and it stuck. Six years later she still enjoys working with and creating a relationship with the patients that come in and out of the office. She is also going to school to earn her master's degree and become a high school guidance counselor. As a Colorado Native, Taylor enjoys spending time with her family, her cat Mittens, reading and watching movies.
